7 Tradescantias You Might Not Know Exist

Hello Plant People!

Easter's over, and it's back to reality. I've had a busy week at work, so I was so happy when the weekend finally arrived! I hope you're having a relaxing weekend too!

Today, I wanted to show you some Tradescantias you don't see very often.

I believe there are a few reasons why these Tradescantias aren’t as common: some grow more slowly, which makes them rarer; others might not have the vibrant colors seen in the more popular varieties; and a few are just a bit more demanding in their care needs.

But despite their oddities, I'm really love my uncommon Tradescantias. So, let’s take a look:

  1. Zanonia Mexican Flag

2. Brevifolia Scout

3. Pallida Kartuz Giant

4. Spathacea Cream

5. Hirta Swifttale

6. Zebrina Tikal

7. Spathacea HANSOTI02

Which one do you like the most?

I got some of them not too long ago as small cuttings, so they're still quite small. But, with summer approaching, I'm hoping they'll begin to take off soon.

In other exciting Tradescantia news, the Tradescantia Hub's shop will be open throughout April, offering international shipping!

While not a Tradescantia, there's a newly announced Callisia cultivar this week, Callisia repens 'Green Cricket.'

It was discovered by Kaja Mierzejewska in Poland, it's a cute little variety with streaks of varying shades of green! She has an amazing collection of both Tradescantias and other Commelinaceae plants. Her Instagram is @commelinaceaepl if you want to check out her collection!

Until next week! Happy Planting!
